Unique People – Absolutely

“Too many companies believe people are interchangeable. Truly gifted people never are. They have unique talents. Such people cannot be forced into roles they are not suited for, nor should they be. Effective leaders allow great people to do the work they were born to do.” ― Warren G. Bennis,

There goes the aphorism – square peg in a round hole, or was it vice verse? Organization is akin a large machine, with parts kinematically linked as per varied degrees of freedom. A nail is well nigh irreplaceable, but for by another nail. Yet special nails and nuts and bolts (not commoditizing people here in any sense) are rare and should be treasured. Passion and years of practice make a person excellent in a part of a process. Cross-training is a useful practice, but every human ought to be valued for her domain of excellence.
One size fits all is inoperative in case of humans.
